Mani Rimdu festival is praised at Tengboche, Thame and Chiwong Monasteries in Solukhumbu, Nepal. This has a consecrated function and is an occasion of strengthening. It is a 9 days’ festivity, which finishes up with three days of open celebration. Sherpas spend time to accumulate merits and commend this celebration with devoted network. When is Mani Rimdu every year
The date of the Mani Rimdu festival is fixed according to the Tibetan lunar calendar. The head lama of the Tyangboche Monastery announces the dates. In Tengboche the Mani Rimdu is performed in the 9th Tibetan month which usually falls in October or November full-moon. 2022 November 08,. Day 05: 8 November: First day: Festival of Empowerment (Wong): The Wong is the opening day of public ceremony. It’s performed on the full moon day, of the tenth month in the Tibetan lunar calendar. The sacred Mani Rilwu (sacred pills) and Tshereel (pills for long life), are given to everyone attending.
Day 06: 9 November: Second day: Mani rimdu festival, dances (Chham): The dances take place on the 2nd public day of Mani Rimdu. Symbolic demons are conquered, chased away, or transformed to Protectors of Dharma. The theme of the dances illustrates positive forces’ fight versus those of disorder, through the dances.
Day 07: Chiwong Monastery-Phaplu, last day of Mani Rimdu and 2hrs walk, overnight in a guest house
Day 08: Phaplu-Kathmandu by jeep/flight, overnight Hotel,
Day 09: Free day in Kathmandu, overnight in the same Hotel

Day 02: 03 November: 2023: Rest KTM, -

Rest and preparation, you can visit ancient old temples/ Heritages and sites (optional). O/N same hotel with BB

Day 03: 04 November: 2023: Lukla Phakding, -

Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla: (2800m) and trek to Phakding (2610m). 3h walk; Early morning after breakfast, we drive to the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport for our trip to Lukla. The flight is a short way from which wonderful rich slopes and snowcapped pinnacles can be seen. We land at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. In Lukla, we will meet the remainder of our staff individuals and start the stunning trek to Phakding. Just to adjust, we do a short walk today. O/N Guest house with Dinner/Breakfast

Day 04: 05 November: 2023: Namche Bazar, -

Trek to Namche Bazar: through a beautiful valley; entry check-point to the national park of Sagarmatha, 3500m. We are strolling through the thick backwoods of pine and oak forest close by Dudh Koshi River. Moving further, we begin to get the looks at Mt Thamserku (6623m). We proceed through the pine, fir and juniper woodlands, cross suspension scaffolds, and soak up to at last reach Namche Bazaar, a business focus of the Everest area. Otherwise called the Gateway to Everest, Namche Bazaar has a shocking display of Mt Everest (8848m). O/N guest house with diner/ Breakfast

Day 05: 06 November: 2023: rest Namche -

Day 06: 07 November: 2023: Namche to Tengboche -

Trek Namche to Dengboche: (3870m), 5 hours walk. Beginning of the festival. Those three nights will be very busy, because so many people come here to see this festival, and stay in every guest house. O/N with Lunch/diner/Breakfast

Day 07: 08 November: 2023: Dengboche, - First Day: Mani Rimdu Festival

The first day of Mani Rimdu Festival marked by the construction of Sand Mandala and Wong. Colored sand used to build complex and representative design. The sharp defensive weapons referring to the divinities are kept surrounding the Mandala. The container of Mani Rilwu pills which regarded as spiritual medicine as placed in the center. The Mandala symbolizes the palace of the lord of dance, Chenpo. The statue of the Buddha of Kindness, the most important for Mani Rimdu. The mantras are chanted, and during meditation, they believe kindness flows in the form of the mantra into the Mandala and the Mani Rilwu pills. Kindness is released out from the Mandala, blessing those who attend the Mani Rimdu festival. O/N same guest house

Day 08: 09 November: 2023: Dengboche - exploring second day: Mani Rimdu Festival

The dances are shown on the 2nd day of Mani Rimdu. Triumph over the symbolic demons shown perform by dance. As the theme of the dance, positive energies fight with demons through the dances. The dances carry Buddhist teaching on many levels from the simplest to the most metaphysical state. During the dance the monks are believed to enter a state of trance and become a godlike being. The dances are only performed during Mani Rimdu because they are considered to be very sacred hence cannot be performed for ordinary entertainment purposes.

Day 09: 10 November: 2023: Dengboche - Third day Mani Rimdu Festival

The last day of the festival will Fire Puja. The Fire Puja is done in the yard the day after the dances. The Fire Puja is a gift to Agni (the god of fire), and to the Gods of the Mandala to dispel all harm in the world. The harm is envisioned as dissolving into the grain and butter being burned. Afterward, the sand Mandala in the temple dismantled to pieces, and the sand is given as an offering to the Snake Gods (Nagas). With the exciting festival of Mani Rimdu comes to an end. Day 10: 11 November: 2023: Dengboche to Namche to Lukla -

Trek from Dengboche to Monjo or Phakding, 6hrs walk, 2610m

Day 11: 12 November: 2023: Lukla to Kathmandu -

Monjo or Phakding to Lukla: (2800m) 3/4 Hours walk. Phakding, you cross the Dudh Kunda river, and pass Chaurikharka. Overnight in lodge, with diner/breakfast

Day 12: 13 November: 2023: Lukla to Kathmandu -

Flight back from Lukla to Kathmandu: domestic airport to hotel and rest or buy some souvenir in markets. Overnight same hotel with BB,

Day 13: 14 November 2023: Hotel to Airport - International airport
