Annapurna is a segment of the Himalayas range in north-central Nepal with 8,091 m (26,545 ft) Annapurna one, 7,000m (22,970ft), and 13 additional peaks above 6,000m (19,690ft). This section is 55km long (34 miles long). Annapurna is a one of the fourteen “eight thousands” in the earth, the 10th highest mountain in the world. It rises east of the Kali Gandaki Gorge which separates it from the Dhaulagiri Massif, is 34 km wide and considered to be the deepest in the world.

In Sanskrit, Annapurna means “full of food” and is generally translated as the goddess of crops. In Hinduism, Annapurna is the “universal goddess” (feeding mother). Without her, there is hunger and a universal fear; this makes Annapurna a universal goddess.
Mount Annapurna was the first 8,000-meters (26,200 Ft) climbed on 3rd June 1950 by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal, a French expedition led by Maurice Herzog.
