This peak (6189m) is located in Everest region, next to the Chukung glacier, between Ama Dablam, Makalu and Lhotse Mountains.

Island Peak is the most sought trekking destination because of its challenging geographical conditions. Each year more than 400 groups attempt to scale its summit. This trip offers an excellent opportunity to climb an Himalayan Summit (6189m) together with an exhilarating trek to the Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar for who have time. The most difficult section is made of a mixed rock and ice wall, at a slope of around 45 degrees leading to a narrow summit ridge. The magnificent views from the summit certainlyare a reward for your efforts. Island Peak. We trek on the edge of the Dudh Kosi valley from Lukla, through Namche and Tengboche, on your way to Dingboche and Chhukung, which is the last village. After feeling physically fit and acclimatized, you head up the beautiful moraine glacier along Imja Khola valley, towards Island Peak. Besides the route of adventure, you also get to witness pristine Sherpa villages and serene monasteries.



With ponderous memories of this earlier trekking days, we retrace our route back, through Namche to Lukla, and fly back to Kathmandu. The best period for this trip is from March to May, and September to the end of November.

Please note that you have to be healthy: A physically fit and acclimatized person is well qualified to make an ascent over this peak.

Day 01: - Arrival-Kathmandu International airport to Hotel

Arrival at Kathmandu, O/N Hotel with B&B. Elevation 1350m

Day 02: - Free Day in Kathmandu

Free day in Kathmandu, for preparation of trekking and climbing equipment. O/N same hotel with B&B

Day 03: - Flight from domestic airport to Lukla

Departure from the domestic airport to Lukla.
Early morning 35/45minutes twin-otter flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu valley. If early morning arrival, you trek to Phakding, 3hrs to walk. O/N Guest house, with BB/L/D

day 04: - Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m)

Trek to Namche Bazar: (3440m) you will enter the Khumbu National park, crossing the confluence of Duth Koshi and Bhote koshi by crossing 5-6 suspended bridges. After the last bridge you start to climb 200 meters in a deep gorge, and you steeply climb to Namche Bazar. This is a prosperous trading town and the capital of the Khumbu region, O/N Guest House, with BB/L/D

Day 05: - At Namche, to acclimatize.

We rest in Namche Bazar, to slowly acclimatize. During this period you can trek to Shyangboche airport and visit the monastery and the Museum of the Sherpas. O/N same Guest house with BB/L/D

Day 06: - Namche to Dengboche

Namche to Dengboche: 5hrs walk (3700m). You walk on the well-worn trail to Everest contours around the side valley, high above the Dudh koshi. You trail up Dudh Koshi River, if there is a clear weather you can admire the view of Everest and Amadablam. Dengboche is lying between the mountains on a hill top, there is a 500 years old monastery. O/N Guest house with BB/L/D

Day 07: - Trek to Dingboche(4410m)

Trek to Dingboche: (4410m) 5hrs walk. Following Pangboche village, an excellent view point to Ama Dablam, you’ll leave Dudh Koshi on your left. The trail contours up the valley to the north-east, face the Island peak or Chhukung village in Imja lake Valley, to reach to picturesque farming village of Dingboche. O/N Guest house, with BB/L/D

Day 08: - Trek to Chhukung (4730m) 4hrs

Trek to Chhukung, the last village of Imjatse: (4730m) 4hrs walk. Trek slowly to Chhukung. The trail is up in a high altitude, you reach the views of the mountains with Island peak, O/N Guest House, with BB/L/D

Day 09: - Trek to Island Peak base camp (5150m)

Trek to Island Peak base camp: (5150m) 4:30 hrs walk. Trek over the moraine trail. For some hours your climb on the edge of the river which flows from Imjatse lake. Before you pass a moraine valley you must walk up to Island peak BC, have tea and biscuit, and take a rest. At around 3 pm, prepare to exercise and train climbing for tomorrow morning, on Island peak ice and snow. O/N on tents with BB/L/D

Day 10: - Island peak Summit-BC (6189m)

Island peak Summit: (6189m) 12/14hrs ascent and descend, we prepare for picnic a pack-lunch and water. You start at night climbing Island peak. The path leads to the summit from BC. You climb gully rocks to reach a ridge line with ice glacier, which leads onto the snout of the glacier. Fixed lines are placed on the headwall, which has to be climbed to gain the ridge, and rope lengths to the top. Superb view from the summit. Descend back to BC. O/N Tent, with BB/D

Day 11: - BC to Pangboche

Island peak Base camp to Pangboche: back to Pangboche by the same trail which you have climbed from Pangboche (3950m). 5hrs walk, O/N Guest house,BB/D

Day 12: - Pangboche to Namche

Pangboche to Namche: 5hrs walks, back to the same trail following Dengboche and Sanasha, on the way before arriving at Namche. O/N guest house with BB/D

Day 13: - Namche to Lukla

Namche to Lukla: 6/7hrs walk, by the same way directly to Lukla, which was the starting point of the trek. O/N guest house with BB/D

Day 14: - Lukla to Kathmandu

We catch our flight early morning from Lukla to Kathmandu: we will fly 35 minutes and have a half day leisure. O/N Hotel, with BB,

Day 15: - Free day in Kathmandu

Free day in Kathmandu for souvenir, O/N Same Hotel, with BB

Day 16: - Final departure to international airport

Final departure to International Airport with a private vehicle. Have you a good journey.
