Panch Pokhari is short trekking route, it takes you to see the 9th highest altitude wetland in the world, and five lakes situated around an elevation of 4100m above sea level.

These lakes are an especially popular destination during Janai Purnima in the month of August, for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. People believe that making a wish with a pure intention will make it fulfilled. These five lakes have both religious and cultural meanings, and people climb for offerings once in a year. Panch Pokhari short trek provides an enormous chance to grasp the Ariel Himalayan landscape with beautiful Himalayan views including the Gauri shanker, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Himalaya, Jugal Himalayan, Rolwaling Himalayan, Lingshing, Phurbochyachu Himal, Madiya, Tibetan Himalayan range, and pristine nature with district culture . Flora like juniper, pine, rhododendron, and wild animals of Blue Sheep, wild boar. We can find the Yarsagumba (CORDYCEPS) as an half plant and insect which is a rare specie in the world. These are the major purposes to do the Panch Pokhari.

This trek is also known as a Nepal cultural trek. This trek is not only rich in cultural education but also in natural sceneries and climb many hills, cross various rivers, and can explore new creatures. get to grasp the amazing landscape with Jugal Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Phurbochyachu, and more. That’s not all, your eyes can meet many strangers and local people smiles will be familiar.

Panch pokhari trek has two major routes: one route starts from Chautara, the headquarter of Sindhupalchowk district, and Sano Okhareni, and one from Bhotang village via Melamchi Gaun. This second route is considered to be easier and shorter.

The journey to five lakes will begin by driving about 8 to 9 hours by bus or Jeep from Kathmandu to Bhotang. passing by various villages of Tamang and other communities like Tipeni Bazaar, Dhap, Raithane, and Manekharka before arriving at Bhotang village. You will spend the first night at Bhotang, meet local people and get to know their culture and lifestyle as well. Early morning we will start the trek and get to experience a different culture in every new village. Then after long walks, going up and up you will reach Nasimpati, where you will spend your second night. There the weather will start to become a little chilly, especially during the nights. There are some steep hills on the way and to climb with caution, because sometimes it is raining and the ground will be slippery.

After Nasimpati you can explore and see different views surrounding you, and paths are filled with rocks from stairs to ground. There are rocks all over and you have to climb many stairs, but the last stair that’ll lead you to Panch Pokhari, leads to Lauri Bina which means “without a stick”. If you use the stick for support on the way to get there it is believed that you will have to leave it at the end of these stairs and reach Panch Pokhari. Is such a place close to heaven ? You see the first three lakes, and the other two are a little apart. You spend a night here. The spiritual environment will definitely give you a very peaceful sleep. There is a temple to worship and you can take a tour of the five holy lakes. The views you will see that day will be really unforgettable to us. The scenes of the five ponds surrounded by green hills filled with different types of flowers, will never be able to be erased from your memory. After that we will trek back on the same route. Make sure that you don’t miss out anything during this trip, this is a best trip that offers breathtaking views and a cultural experience.
