Phoksundo Lake is located in Dolpo region, in the largest provincial district. This is considered as one of the most beautiful and exotic tourist destinations. Phoksundo Lake Trek is a short and easy journey to do and you can see one of the most beautiful and deepest lakes in Nepal. Phoksundo is an alpine freshwater lake, considered sacred by Buddhists and Bon-po.  This lake is a best hiking and wonderful blend of nature and culture.

The 11 days trekking begins when you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The trek to Phoksundo Lake will continue the next day from Nepalgunj of Western Terai, 8km away from the indian border. After a night in Nepalgunj, we have to catch a domestic flight to Juphal, and start walking towards Dunai, the starting point of Phoksundo Lake.

The trekking trail climbs and descends through a dense forest of oak, pine and fur trees with views of many waterfalls on the way. The route crosses beautiful traditional villages like Dunai, Chhepka, Jharna and Shanta. You can see a 330 meters high waterfall. The area is equally rich in wildlife which gives hikers an opportunity to see endangered species such as musk deer, snow leopard, blue sheep, Tibetan sheep, Himalayan thar. A short stay at the picturesque Phoksundo Lake is sure to bring you a sense of calm and tranquility with the view of Kanjirowa Himal (6612m) as well as the various monasteries around the lake.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu international airport, - 30 minute drive, Elevation: 1350m,

Day 02: Permit Procedure and afternoon flight Kathmandu-Nepalgunj, - 1hrs flight, Elevation: 500m

Day 03: Flight from Nepalgunj-Juphal- Dunai, - 35 minutes flight, 3hrs walk, Elevation: 2475m,

flight from Nepalgunj-Juphal: You can enjoy the view of mighty snowcapped mountains throughout the flight.
After the 35-minute flight, you reach Juphal, which will be the starting point of the trek. The trail from Juphal descends through maize fields and local villages, on the edge if Pheri river to Dunai, O/N Guest house,

Day 04: Trek from Dunai-Chhepka - 5-6hrs walk, Elevation: 2720m,

Trek towards Chhepka. The trail descends through the streets of Dunai and crosses the bridge over Bheri River. We continue to trek through the northern bank of the river to reach Sulighat, followed by Shey Phoksundo National Park check post. From there, we ascend along the rock-strewn trail, and trek further through a series of hemp farms until we reach Kageni. You can relish the views of waterfalls and lush vegetation, and way through the tropical forest to Chhepka village. O/N Guest house

Day 05: Trek from Chhepka-Jharana, - 4-5hrs walk, Elevation: 3040m,

The trek is ascending through a forested path filled with big cedars We also walk through a winter settlement, and gradually climb up through wide meadows situated above the gorge of Phoksundo River, from where which get a great view of a high waterfall and a faraway view of Phoksundo Lake. Day 06: Trek from Jharana-Phoksundo Lake (Ringmo Gaun) - 2-3hrs walk, Elevation: 3640m,

Today trek towards Phoksundo Lake: we descend steeply through forests filled with birch trees to the upper reaches of the Phoksundo Khola, then cross a bridge and continue to walk to the north, to the ranger station at Phoksundo Lake. We trek through the shores of the lake close to the point where the Phoksundo Khola streams out of the lake, O/N Guest house

Day 07: Exploring Shey Phoksundo Lake , - 2/3hrs walk, as exploring,

Today the day eis xploring the area nearby the tranquil Phoksundo Lake. Phoksundo is a beautiful alpine turquoise colored freshwater lake, which is the deepest lake in Nepal. With the view of Kanjirowa Himal 6612m with background, you relish the sheer beauty of Phoksundo Lake, and visit several Bon-po monasteries inside the park. O/N Guest House

Day 08: Trek from Phoksundo Lake-Chhepka, - 5-6hrs walk, Elevation: 2720m,

Today we leave the beautiful Phoksundo Lake trek towards the village of Shyanta, ascend along the steep trail for half an hour until we reach the top of the hill, which offers the last view of Phoksundo Lake. Then we descend to the village of Chunuwar, following Rechi. and walk along the bank of the river. Keeping on descending, we reach Chhepka, O/N Guest House

Day 09: Trek from Chhepka-Juphal, - 5-6hrs walk, Elevation: 2475m,

We trek through a rocky path alongside Bheri River. Accompanied by the beautiful landscape in background we continue and leave the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Then we head east towards Juphal Airport, passing through the small village of Kalagauda. After 5 hours of walk we arrive at Juphal. O/N Guest House,

Day 10: Fly from Juphal-Nepalgunj-Kathmandu - 30 minutes fly, and 01hrs fly,

Juphal to Nepalgunj is a 30 minutes flight , in the afternoon we fly back to Kathmandu, one hour flight:
early Morning we have to leave Jhupal for catch the fly back to Nepalgunj, because the flights are not possible in the afternoon due to the strong winds. After reaching Nepalgunj, we have to catch a second flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 11: Final Departure, - International airport of Kathmandu,

We will drop you by our private vehicle to the Tribhuvan International Airport, approximately 3 hours before your flight.
